Hey everyone! It's been months since the last post, and that's because I've been so, so, so caught-up in running International Cosplay Day Singapore. www.icdsg.com

The conventions actually just round the corner, and we're expecting some really awesome guests at our event, including :iconyayacosplay:, :iconpolence:, :iconjaytablante: and :iconcosplayts:

If you're from Singapore and around the region, and are interested in flying over for a look at the con and what we have to offer, be sure to check out our site www.icdsg.com or Facebook page www.facebook.com/icd.sg for more details!

Also, I'll be doing another coscard exchange through international mail. The last time I did this, I sent out 20 pieces of my signed coscards to 20 random cosplayers around the world. I have 30 pieces of my Demon Hunter cosplay (you can check it out in :iconvaxzone: 's gallery) this time.

If any cosplayer out there's interested, be sure to comment on this post, and we'll work out how we can do an exchange. I'll send you one of my coscards, and you can mail me one of yours back! ^_^

It's a great way to make more international cosplay friends, I feel, and who knows? I might just invite you to Singapore next year for our con!

Well, that's that for this relatively tiny update. It's back to work for me. Still loads to finish up before the con. XD

What's better than having your tutorials read and downloaded on DA is when your tutorials and articles are appreciated! ^_^

I came home to a pleasant surprise this evening, when I realized that my blog was selected as a finalist in the Singapore Blog Awards. It's really great affirmation, considering how The Neo Tokyo Project www.neotokyoproject.com is a blog that's nothing like blogs in the traditional mould here in Singapore.

Suffice to say, watchers and DA friends, if you'd like to support my work, and all the cosplay guides and tutorials I've written (and will continue to write), please do support me by clicking on this >> sgblogawards.omy.sg/2012/categ… << and casting your vote for The Neo Tokyo Project!

Thanks loads! ^_^

It's been almost half a year since my last entry, but that's because I've been busy, busy, busy. XD

This year marks a new direction for The Neo Tokyo Project www.neotokyoproject.com , with a move away from just being a cosplay and pop-culture blog into an actual cosplay events entity.

In addition to cementing a partnership with the awesome costume and prop makers at :iconproject-zen:, The Neo Tokyo Project has also taken a daring step in the direction of conventions & exhibitions, spearheading Singapore's first contribution to International Cosplay Day with a full-fledged convention to be held on 26 August 2012.

Some of the amazing international guests coming our way for the convention include:

:iconyayacosplay: - Yaya Han

:iconpolence: - Jerry Polence

:iconjaytablante: - Jay Tablante

:iconcosplayts: - The Cast and Crew of COSPLAY: The Series

Check out more details about International Cosplay Day Singapore here. neotokyoproject.com/blog/icds-… , and don't forget to keep tabs on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/neotokyoproje… and our blog www.neotokyoproject.com for more updates in the weeks to come!

We'll see you at the con, yeah?

Haven't had a chance to sit down to writing a DA entry in awhile yet, because I've been busy with tie-ups, work, and several other things.

Cosplay Chess went awesomely, and we're definitely doing it again next year. In the mean, check out the awesome video of the complete show here. youtu.be/d2JM6TQKCwI (video courtesy of our friends at Operation P.Ani.C)

We also ran Geekology 101, :iconjaytablante: Jay Tablante's first Singapore exhibition, which The Neo Tokyo Project's crew curated and managed. It was a real blast working with an internationally acclaimed individual such as Jay, and it was even more awesome when Alodia :iconblackmagealodia: graced the occasion. XD

Of course, there's no time to slack or let up.

We've already scheduled some tie-ups for the coming year, and planning for Cosplay Chess 2012 is already in the works. So if you're keen to be a part of it, don't forget to check out our Facebook fan page @ www.facebook.com/neotokyoproje… for the latest information!

We're also working very closely with Project Zen @ www.facebook.com/ProjectZenSG , a dedicated group of local prop makers for the production and WCS plans. How cool is that?

We'll definitely be keeping everyone posted as WCS qualifiers roll around in February.

Until next time. Have a merry X'mas and a great New Year!

Been quiet in the past couple weeks because we've been really, really swamped with preparations for Singapore's inaugural Cosplay Chess match.

Apart from crafting my Death Knight Tier 10 armor (which I'll be showcasing at the event), I've also been busy choreographing and directing the chess performance (as principle choreographer and overall show director).

Do check out the details about the event here  >> neotokyoproject.com/blog/2011/… << for further details. :D

It's been awhile since I posted a new deviation, but since I've crossed the 20k page views mark, I figured I'd post a little something to commemorate.

Here's another tutorial, in a line of hopefully more practical crafting tutorials, and it's a guide to creating a stage safe cosplay sword out of blue foam.

This weapon should provide cosplayers with hours and hours of safe fun bopping each other upside the head at conventions, amongst other things.

Part of this tutorial also demonstrates my method for crafting basket hilts for cosplay props, so if you're wondering how to do it quickly, and on the cheap, do check the tutorial out. ^_^

Said tutorial can be found here. fav.me/d4fmk9t

Anime Festival Asia's (AFA) coming up in a couple days, so if you're ever curious about Singapore's cosplay convention culture, do check out my coverage over the coming weekend on my blog @ The Neo Tokyo Project www.neotokyoproject.com/blog/

This tutorial and more cosplay tutorials I've written are posted there too.

I'll be running a new promo/contest thingie on my blog www.neotokyoproject.com , and it's going to revolve around Steampunk Goggles.

As you guys know, I put out a Steampunk Goggles Tutorial fav.me/d45tys7 awhile ago, and if you've started working on a pair of your own based off this tutorial, I'd love to feature your creations on my blog and Facebook fan page.

This promo/contest will be open for 2 months (closing end October) and one lucky featured goggles creator will get a funky steampunk prize from us at The Neo Tokyo Project.

Just post a photo of your creation here www.facebook.com/neotokyoproje… (you'll need to Like our fan page first to do so) and title it My Steampunk Goggles (by NAME).

Here's hoping to see your creations. Cheerio! ^_^

It's 12.13 PM.

This is gonna be a quickie entry because I've got a performance to be at later. I've just posted a Steampunk Goggles Tutorial on The Neo Tokyo Project www.neotokyoproject.com for those keen on trying out Steampunk cosplay.

It's a really simple tutorial that doesn't require a whole lot of time, and the materials are actually really, really affordable. Do give it a gander if you're interested. ^_^

Also, The Neo Tokyo Project has been given accredited media status for STGCC 2011, which means direct access to special guests and speakers! How cool is that?

So if you're interested in fielding some questions to the uber guys like Paul Levitz, Kieron Gillen, COSMODE's Taadaki Dosai, Kipi, or others, drop them my way and I'll see if I can get them to answer 'em.

The next few weeks promise to be busy busy, but it looks like it's also gonna be a really exciting time!

Until then, folks. Cheerio!

It's 1.33 PM, and I just finished writing my coverage of Comic Art Show 2011 awhile ago.

It's really heartening to discover that there's space for local and Asian talents to promote their art in Singapore, and I'm all for it. Do check out the article @ www.neotokyoproject.com , and if you've got the afternoon off, do pop by to take a gander at their work.

Also, we're holding our second giveaway this month. We've got 5 art cards from Kelvin Chan @ www.rocketraygun.com to give away, and here's how you can get in on some phat lewts:

1. Like our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/pages/The-Neo…

2. Spread the love. Tell your friends about The Neo Tokyo Project on Facebook www.facebook.com/pages/The-Neo… . Each Like from your friends counts as one chance, so the more friends you get to like our page, the better the odds of getting ahold of some loot.

3. This contest closes on 14th August 2011, so get cracking! XD

Also, I'll be running another Blog Exclusive promotion soon. I visited the Comic Art Show 2011 yesterday, and managed to get my hands on some art cards by Kelvin Chan @ rocketraygun.deviantart.com/ who was an exhibitor at the show.

If you'd like one , do Like The Neo Tokyo Project Facebook page www.facebook.com/pages/The-Neo… to find out if you're eligible and how to qualify. Here's a shoutout to PendoraSBox pendorasbox.deviantart.com/ , a photomanipulation artist who created an amazing piece of work based on my Warlock Cosplay.

It's awesomely dark, and at the same time richly atmospheric. The treatment is especially brilliant, resulting in a work that evinces an old painting, while the fiery streak and glowing red eye evoked the sinister feel of a destruction warlock casting Incinerate. ^_^

Do check out her work at her DA page. ^_^

It's 10.21 AM.

The studio shoot for our Rogue costumes went swimmingly.

I handled the setup, styling and creative direction again and this time we employed a mixture of strip light and black bounce, as well as dramatic back lighting techniques to generate a style that was not only flattering for the costumes, but also "shady" enough in the context of two World of Warcraft Rogues - one versed in Subtlety, the other in Assassination.

If you'd like to learn how I set up the studio and directed the shoot, do swing on over to The Neo Tokyo Project www.neotokyoproject.com , where I have posted a technical lighting diagram and elaborated on the methods used.

Also, if you'd like to be kept up to date on my latest cosplay escapades, tutorials, or articles on geekery in general, consider Liking The Neo Tokyo Project on Facebook. www.facebook.com/pages/The-Neo…

Hope everyone enjoys the photos! We'll be doing a second Lady Mechanika shoot next month, once we've beefed up Joey's costume, and my own steampunk getup is done, so keep your eyes peeled!

Until then, cheerio! XD

It's 10.41 pm. Thursday.

I've been pretty quiet here on DeviantArt because I've been focusing my efforts on my blog at The Neo Tokyo Project ( www.neotokyoproject.com ) where I've been a little more active in the cosplay tutorials, comic reviews and pop culture department.

Got a bit of news to share though. In the past couple days, I've been processing the photos of the Lady Mechanika Cosplay shoot I did with Joey lord-angelus.deviantart.com and tomorrow, I'll be doing another studio session, this time to take some pictures of my Netherblade and Joey's Nightslayer armor sets in all their glory.

Be sure to keep an eye here, and on my blog for details and photos. XD

Also, don't forget to check out the Tutorials section neotokyoproject.com/blog/guide… if you're keen to learn how I made my Warlock shoulderpads, as well as other cosplay props, tips and tricks. You can also follow my latest updates via Facebook at The Neo Tokyo Project fanpage. www.facebook.com/pages/The-Neo…

It's 1.15 AM, so I'll be brief.

Threw together a tutorial about making shoulder armor out of foam mats, with an emphasis on the Netherblade shoulders I'm working on for this year's Cosfest.

The link to this handy tutorial can be found here. neotokyoproject.com/blog/2011/…

If you're interested in making some armor pieces of your own, feel free to take a gander at it, and leave me comments here. XD

It's 11.43 AM.

So I survived 3 days of License 2 Play over the weekend, and it was awesome. It was great to hit the same con I debuted my Warlock Tier 5 costume in last year, and this year, it was awesome actually being part of the cosplay competition and winning the West Champion (1st) spot in the CosGames challenge.

Contests for game-centric cosplayers are already a rarity in Singapore. With the local scenes predominant anime and manga bias, it's even harder still for those portraying characters and costumes from Western genres and Western developers to showcase their outfits and talents on stage. And that's why it's encouraging to have License 2 Play, STGCC, and other geek, rather than otaku conventions on the cards.

I'm both relieved and vindicated - having returned to the cosplay scene after almost a decade's hiatus, and having actually won prizes and accolades in several competitions all round for the past year - I know now that I can banish the Warlock costume to the Twisting Nether, and work on my future cosplay plans with some peace of mind. It's encouraging to know that I've succeeded in pushing through World of Warcraft cosplay locally, since Joey and I are the only two local cosplayers who focus exclusively on this game, and I certainly hope to take it even further next year when I finally put the Death Knight T8 armor into action.

In the meantime, I'd like to share the video of the cosplay performance I did at License 2 Play 2011 CosGames, which helped net me my West Champion spot.

Enjoy. youtu.be/lClKFPNYrz4

If you've been following my latest cosplay escapades, you'll know that I'll soon be joining License 2 Play's Cosgames, one of Singapore's major cosplay competitions for game related characters and I'll be doing my Warlock routine again. It'd be for the last time too, before I retire the costume and start sneaking around as a stealthy rogue. XD

If you like my warlock costume, and hope to see me win (and maybe go to America to cosplay with the prize money), do vote for me.

Here's how to do it.

First off, go to on.fb.me/j6f8vM and LIKE the Cosgames page.

Next, go to on.fb.me/k5Vrnz and LIKE my Warlock costume photo. XD

Thanks peeps! This warlock is much obliged. XD

It's 10.30 AM, Friday.

For those of you who've been following my cosplay escapades in the past year or so, you might have noticed that it's been almost a full year since I donned my Corruptor's Raiment, and that I'll soon be shedding my warlock guise in favor of a stealthier persona.

The coming Gantz Cosplay Party, on 8th May at The Heeren's event stage on Level 1, will be the second-to-last time I'll be wearing this costume, especially for a contest. If any of you folks are in the area, please do drop by The Heeren from 4 pm to 5 pm. I'd love to have your support for the contest.

Incidentally, I'll be giving out limited edition coscards at the event, so if you want one, raise your paws! XD
